U32’s second building is under construction, and I’m giving you a sneak peek of what’s to come.

The U32 complex has a young and hip vibe. My design goal is to create a timeless space that still feels modern and inviting. I think the best spaces call you to want to hang out there, so that’s what we’re shooting for at U32. I’ve been working with the team from Roers on the units, lounge, common bathroom, yoga studio, exercise room, and study rooms.

In this post, we’re looking at the hot yoga studio that will be in U32’s second building, so if you’re a yogi or have ever been curious about yoga, you’re in for a treat. That’s right, a yoga studio right in the building…what a luxury!

Let’s check out the yoga studio.

The Space

You enter the hot yoga studio through the fitness room.

When you use the yoga studio, you should feel like you’re enveloped in a warm blanket of beauty. It’s a place where you can feel the elegance of the room and get yourself into a zen state of mind.

This studio will be on average 92 degrees but can get all the way up to 105 degrees. Whether it’s a high heat class meant to make you sweat or a class that doesn’t crank up the heat past 92, you’ll want to pop in, kick off your shoes and get your namaste on.

Yoga studios are somewhere that should be calm, peaceful and the kind of place you go to clear your head and let your worries slide away. I want people to feel both serene and refreshed after spending time here, so what’s what I had in mind when I came up with the design for this space.

The Design

Immediately when you walk in, you’ll be struck by the airiness of the room. The floor is unique for the studio, with a bit of cushion, perfect for laying out your mat and mastering your poses. I chose to do the floor in natural color in keeping with the light and neutral palette of the space.

With Sherwin Williams’ Pure White paint gracing the walls, you see an inspirational quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” I went with a white on white palette for the quote and the wall as I didn’t want anything in the room to feel overpowering and detract from the feeling of serenity.

Along the wall underneath the quote, there are two oversized wood benches that can be used to take a seat and have a chat before or after your session. They can also be used to place candles during sessions for added ambiance.

The room also has soft lighting to add to the peaceful feel of the space.

Finally, what makes this room extra special is the artificial live wall, also known as a vertical garden. The wall brings in a burst of nature and provides a high visual impact. It doesn’t overwhelm the room, but instead, it compliments the spa-like feel the studio aims to have.

The yoga studio is designed to be a place of retreat, wellness, and refocusing, so every selection was made with that intent.

All you need is yourself and your yoga mat, and you’re ready to let all your stress melt away.

In my next post, I’ll be previewing two of the four study rooms at U32.
